Friday Night Concerts

Location Historic Union County Courthouse
From Blue Ridge, take Hwy 515/76 to Blairsville to 19/129 turn right is located in the center of the square.
Hear live concerts each Friday evening in the old historic courthouse. The acoustics in the old courshouse are amazing. Listen to music from easy listening to old fashion bluegrass.  Different performers each Friday night, visit their website for the current schedule of performers. Music starts at 700 PM. Concerts in The Old Courthouse on the Square are presented by the Union County Historical Society as a public service, and to keep alive the tradition of music in the old courthouse. There is no admission fee. The musicians donate their time and talents. Voluntary donations to the maintenance fund are always welcomed and appreciated. Cherry Log Fall Festival

First 3 weekends each October, the community of Cherry Log celebrates the harvest with the Cherry Log Festival. Serving delicious homemade breakfast and lunch, offering arts and crafts, homemade cakes, pies and canned goods, bluegrass, gospel and country music at the Cherry Log Community Clubhouse, 341 Cherry Log Street. Georgia Mountain Fall Festival

Cruise On The Rails

Southern Tree Plantation Fall Fun

(4.7 miles south of Blairsville) Pumpkins, Hayrides, Petting Farm, Marshmallow Roasting, Mountain Crafts, Maze, Playground, Pony rides, Kids Train Ride. Available during selected weekends. Located in the heart of the North Georgia Mountains. You'll find all this at Southern Tree Plantations Fall Fun on the Farm event. Southern Tree Plantation is a working farm currently growing thousands of pumpkins and Christmas trees.

Sorghum Festival

Location Blairsville, Ga.   Meeks Park (located on Hwy 76 just before Blairesville City Limits on your right).
Georgia's official Sorghum Festival, one of the longest running festivals in north Georgia. A parade kicks off the 2 weekend event. Bluegrass music, cloggers plus many other forms of entertainment add to this event which features a variety of artists and craftsmen who sell handmade goods. Sorghum is the 3rd most popular cereal grain in the US, and a staple of early Georgia farmers going back to the early 1800's. Gold Rush Days

Location Dahlonega, Ga. Take Hwy 515 (76) south to Hwy 52, head east and follow signs to Dahlonega.
The historic gold mining town of Dahlonega goes all out each fall in celebration of its rich mountain and gold mining heritage. Gold Rush Days is the largest arts and crafts festival in the NE Georgia mountains, with over 300 arts and crafts booths. Southern Appalachian Artist Guild / National Juried Show

Location Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association   Opening reception on Saturday, October 16th from 500 PM to 700 PM. The Southern Appalachian Artist Guild and the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association welcomes you to the communty's Third Annual National Juried Art Show. Artists from all over the U.S. will compete for prize money totaling $5,000. Annual Haunted Hike & Hayride

Location Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA   Whos hiding in the hollow Whats rustling in the hay experience eerie sensations in the night at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spas annual Haunted Hike. Harvest Festival

Oct 23 Location Hiawassee and Blairsville, GA   Presented by the Blairsville - Union County Chamber of Commerce. The tournament will be two days, Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24th. Entry Fee - $100 per Boat. Registration will begin at 600a.m./ Blast Off at 700a.m. and weigh-in will be at 300p.m. Location on Day 1 - Lake Chatuge - Ledfords Chapel Boat Ramp. Location on Day 2 - Deavers Road Boat Ramp. Halloween Costume Parade and Trick or Treat

Location Downtown McCaysville, Ga. & Copperhill, TN   Festivities begin at 415 PM. Ghosts & goblins come out in their best costumes to compete in the annual Halloween Costume Parade. The 2010 parade offers cash prizes to participants. You must register and wear a registration to compete for prizes. Sign up at 415 PM on Parade day in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville. Prizes will be awarded by ages groups, with other prizes for best group costume, best dressed pet, and best float, among others. All floats must be hand-pulled, no motorized vehicles are allowed in the parade, except for kiddie cars. Judging will be conducted beginning at 430 PM in the First Baptist Parking lot. The parade begins at 500 PM and proceeds down Toccoa Avenue/Ocoee Street to the BB&T Bank. After the parade, costumed children can collect free treats from downtown merchants during the Trick or treat safe zone from 530 PM to 630 PM. At 600 PM, compete for prizes during the annual scream contest outside the United Community Bank in McCaysville.
